In 2008, react/dance premiered an excerpt entitled "South Philly Neighborhood Tours/Stop 1" in the Newbold Neighborhood at Dickinson and Bouvier Streets. We are currently in the process of creating an evening length performance to take place in the neighborhod in Fall of 2010. We are so excited to be embarking on this journey with all of the neighbors as well as with dancers/collaborators David Konyk and Elisa Lane.
We have been gathering stories from neighbors of all ages, collecting video footage of talks with neighbors, rehearsals and improvisations insipired by the space, and conducting movement workshops with the children in the neighborhood.
We hope to transform the stories of the neighborhood into a movement installation that becomes part of the landscape of the Newbold neighborhood.
